GriefShare

Our next session of GriefShare will begin Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 1pm in Gillin Hall.

Website: www.griefshare.org

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one and looking for support or tools to help you cope, please consider GriefShare.  GriefShare is a 13-week support group that meets weekly to help you face the challenges and move toward rebuilding your life after the losss of a spouse, child, family member, or friend.

There are 3 components:

-Video Seminar with experts.  Each week you will watch a video seminar featuring experts on grief and recovery.

-Support Group Discussion.  After viewing the video, you and the other members of the group will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week's video seminar and what is going on in your lives.

-Personal Study & Reflection. During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling.  Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.

Who should come...who should not:

GriefShare is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend.  There are other losses in life that we grieve: job loss, divorce, estrangement from a child, or loss of friends because of a move.  This grief is real, but not the kind of grief discussed in GriefShare sessions.  Please feel free to contact the Parish Nurse for help  in finding resources when dealing with those kinds of grief.

Start anytime:

You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session.  Each is "self-contained" so you do not have to attend in sequence.  You'll find encouragement and help whenever you begin and can continue with GriefShare during hte next 13-week cycle that it is offered.

Registration is required:

Registration is required, so that we have enough materials for everyone.  For questions, call Wendy Bobadilla at 803-788-3252, ext 327 or email at wbobadilla@sjnchurch.com.  There is a charge for the workbook for the class, if this fee is a hardship to pay, please speak to the parish nurse.
